iQ50

A compact yet powerful floorstander, the iQ50 shares the exceptionally wide, even dispersion that characterises the range, together with KEF’s legendary build quality. The 19mm (0.75in.) tweeter, identical to the larger models, is built into the 130mm (5.25in.) version of KEF’s latest Uni-Q® high frequency/midrange array.

Coupled with a new lightweight dual composite long-throw bass driver of the same size in a two and a half-way configuration the new iQ50 is an accomplished performer as satellites in a 5.1 package or as a dedicated two channel system. With the inherent sweetness that makes good music sound great the iQ50 represents outstanding value for those who take sound seriously.

Aluminium dome tweeter with ‘tangerine’ waveguide

The unique ‘tangerine’ waveguide delivers a smoother, clearer high frequency response with an even wider dispersion as well as providing an excellent protection from straying fingers.

Uni-Q®

KEF’s patented Uni-Q driver configuration is what makes the Q Series sound noticeably better than conventional speakers in normal rooms.

The new Uni-Q array in the iQ has been further refined, with a sophisticated new 19mm (0.75in.) elliptical dome tweeter, improved acoustic geometry and ‘tangerine’ waveguide for even more realistic vocals and even smoother, louder and clearer high frequency response.

Enclosures

Inspired by the Reference Series the fully curved enclosures of the iconic Q Series minimise distortion by eliminating internal standing waves. Laminated MDF construction and internal bracing make the cabinets acoustically inert and reduce cabinet colouration. A new internal labyrinth damping system in the floorstanding models eliminate colouration effects from vertical standing waves.

LF Drivers

The new Q Series feature the latest lightweight dual composite LF cones with tall profile rubber surrounds for longer cone throw resulting in increased LF extension and greater power handling. Rigid die cast aluminium chassis house ultra-low distortion motors incorporating Faraday rings to iron out harmonic distortion.
