Q85S is a compact two-way closed box design featuring the same fourth generation Uni-Q driver array as the rest of the range, its distinctive silver cone visible through the grille. Uni-Q’s wide dispersion characteristics are ideally suited to rear effects speakers, which should be non-directional.

This makes the Q85S much easier to position in the room than a conventional speaker; off axis performance is so generous that you can mount them more or less where it suits you without compromising their ability to reproduce convincing atmospheric and location effects. With magnetic shielding to prevent any interference with nearby electronics, they can be either wall or shelf-mounted.

Combined with a subwoofer like the KEF 20B or 30B, Q85S is ideal for sub/sat systems as well as discrete installations. Though the Video Grey finish is designed to blend unobtrusively into the room, there's nothing unobtrusive about their performance: despite their small size, they're capable of creating an amazing sound picture to dramatise what's on screen.
