The Q Series Point Two
KEFs new generation Q Series sound much better than conventional speakers in the same price range .. a bold claim- until you find out why.
Shopping around for quality loudspeakers, you soon realise that what manufacturers hype as advances in audio technology are usually so insignificant as to be almost unnoticeable except under studio conditions. In real life, they make little or no difference.
Not so with the latest Q Series from KEF. Like their award-winning predecessors, they deliver unmistakable improvements in sound quality in real rooms. More so now than ever, because weve fine tuned an already outstanding design. Further refined the specification. Fitted even higher quality components.
You will see tell-tale signs of KEFs innovative audio engineering everywhere you look.
Check out the unusual shape of the bass unit on the flagship model Q65.2, for example. Its become known as the racetrack bass driver for obvious reasons, but its distinctive appearance is no mere styling gimmick; the shape provides the same diaphragm area as a conventional 8 circular cone without the need for a fat, unsightly cabinet. And that means you get superbly extended and tightly controlled bass form a slim, elegant speaker.
The original Q Series carved such a reputation for itself that the new range has a lot to live up to- and it does.
The all important crossovers, for example, are now mounted directly to the terminals at the back of each speaker. This is the most direct possible method of getting the amplifier signal to the complex high order components that control the drive units. With no internal cabling in between, any signal degradation that might otherwise distort the sound is completely eliminated- and that means you get purer acoustics than you would with a conventional design.
The whole range boasts use of a brand new tweeter with a more powerful magnet than before, the bass/midrange Uni-Q cone has been upgraded to stiffer material and the floorstanding cabinets now sport a high quality all-round wrap.
Make no mistake, these speakers are worthy inheritors of the Q Series name.
