Muon is the perfect marriage of the best British acoustic engineering and industrial design, which is widely acclaimed as a breakthrough in the hi-fi industry. It has earned ravishing reviews from everyone who has his eyes and ears on it, and received “Best Stereo Performance Award” in Munich High End Show 2007.
 
The Muon loudspeaker is a technology-driven design that has established a major benchmark in acoustic performance. Its four-way speaker system mounted into the front of the structure, which has four powerful bass drivers, is one of the elements that makes it so superior. But it is also the upper mid-range and treble where some of Muon’s key technology lies in the form of the Uni-Q® drive unit array, remarkable in its construction and delivering a seamless sonic picture throughout the listening environment. The two additional bass drivers mounted in the back of Muon help to produce a remarkably clean and open sound by dealing with room effects.

The mastermind behind the exquisite Muon speaker is Ross Lovegrove, a materials and technology-led industrial designer, and to those who know his work, a visionary. The design aspect of the Muon is equally as advanced in technology and sleek in aesthetic. The Muon loudspeaker is fabricated from super-formed aluminium, which uses a similar moulding process to vacuum forming. The concept uses malleable sheets of heated aluminium to achieve otherwise impossible shapes. The eventual form of the loudspeaker was the result of a careful convergence between Ross Lovegrove’s design aesthetics and the physics of sound. The process by which they were conceived meant that, in effect, Ross Lovegrove was sculpting the sound by “skinning” the technology with purposeful form – the final shape was created through an evolutionary process that ensured it could only be the form that it is.
 
A UK based company that has strong links with the aeronautics and automotive industries milled the first prototype from enormous billets of solid aluminium. Using state-of-the-art computer-aided manufacturing software, the machines precisely cut away the excess material from the six-foot long block of solid metal to reveal the final form – in total the milling took about a week.

As a truly contemporary art form appropriate for the 21st century living, and limited to an edition of just 100 pairs, the Muon is unequivocally at the apex of speaker design and technology. The Muon loudspeakers are now available for sale. Each pair is made to order and will be individually numbered. The serial number will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

KEF Reference Series, a renowned flagship family of state-of-the-art loudspeakers, which combines innovative acoustic technology and elegant finish. Each speaker is hand-assembled by skilled craftsmen who match the performance of each driver to within 0.5dB, which is as close to perfect as possible.
 
In order to create the new Reference Series, the design team led by KEF’s Senior Acoustic Engineer, Dr. Andrew Watson was challenged to build a ‘cost no object’ technology demonstrator that would produce the most natural sound possible. The KEF ‘Austin’ conceptwas the result. The ‘Austin’ concept loudspeaker had its debut to the press in 2006 at the Munich High-End show and garnered several ‘best sound in show’ awards from the audiophile magazine community. The Austin project was finally became the foundation of new Reference series’ technology.
 
Uni-Q®-The enhanced “sit anywhere” Uni-Q® technology mounts the hypertweeter at the centre of the midrange cone so that their acoustic centres are at the same point in space. The outputs from the two units are thereby time aligned, generating a more stable and natural sound image over a wide listening area. With nearly two decades of continuous development, this uniquely advanced driver array has been redesigned, resulting in superior sound dispersion, which further enhances the new Reference series’ performance.
 
Acoustic Compliance Enhancement (ACE) – ACE uses activated carbon granules to minimize pressure change inside the subwoofer’s cabinet. With ACE, bass extension can be generated out of proportion to its actual size up to 150% to 300% and results in a thorough bass sound.

Crossover – Computer-modelled crossovers optimise amplitude and phase behaviour for the smoothest possible integration. Cabinets Design - The curved section cabinet is special with precision engineered. It eliminates unwanted vibration, which ensures sweet and pure acoustic output.
  An elegant finishes - The furniture-quality high-gloss variants of new Reference Series are finished with total 8 layers of lacquer, each layer is required to polish to a hand-made mirror finish by craftsmen before applying lacquer on next layer. This attention to detail procedure represents absolute standard of Reference series.

強化低音設備（Acoustic Compliance Enhancement – ACE）─此技術是運用活性碳粒子注入超低音揚聲器內以調節氣壓流動，從而造出遠超於揚聲器容量可產生的低音，提升度達150%至300%之多。
